Another highly successful Natchez Ground Roast Society gathering is in the books and we have returned to normal today; although I returned to normal with an extra 5 or 6 pounds that I now have to work off. It’s always great to get away and leave our everyday stress behind but we come back and often walk into an even greater stressful situation because we’ve been gone. When I was working and returned from a trip I would often wonder if it was even worth taking time off; no one did my work while I was gone and I wound up with twice the work at a hectic pace just to catch back up to “normal”. I don’t think that’s how it should be.
I was “catching up” on my devotion readings this morning and read
“Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” Philippians 4: 7 MSG
I think that’s the answer most of us overlook. We focus on the problem and the stress/worry that normally come along with it instead of the solution which is to focus on Christ. All of the “stuff” that clouds our vision melts away when we concentrate on our relationship with Him. That’s what is ahead for me for the next few days; concentrating on where I was and what I was doing before the long weekend and getting back to that place.
